Michael Thompson - Director | Computer Scientist

Michael is always keen for an adventure and is passionate about water environments and computer science. He is driven by making new ideas a reality and unlocking efficiencies with tools such as artificial intelligence.

Michael is a computer vision specialist with experience in electrical and coastal engineering. He has a bachelor of electrical engineering and a PhD in coastal engineering from the University of Queensland.

Ben Matson - Director | Asset Manager

Ben immerses himself in his passions of surfing, technology and business every day. He has a keen appreciation for bringing like minded people together to produce exciting innovations.

Ben is the founding director of Swellnet, an online surf forecasting and media platform, and founding director of Fiicoms, a licensed telecommunications carrier (ACMA #544). Ben also has a bachelor’s degree in Earth Science, with a focus on meteorology and oceanography. He has extensive experience in the surfing industry and does the installation and maintenance for Shoretech’s coastal monitoring cameras.

Evan Watterson - Director | Coastal Engineer

Drawn to the coast and its communities, Evan is excited by projects that value sustainable coastal management.

After 17 years engaged in coastal engineering, Evan’s work has seen him emerge as a passionate, dedicated principle engineer as well as a director of a leading Australian consultancy firm Bluecoast. He is passionate about harnessing new technology in the coastal engineering industry, which is realised through his involvement in Shoretech.

Heiko Loehr - Director | Coastal Engineer

His career has seen him follow his passions for the environment, the ocean, and for learning. Heiko loves combining theory, practical understanding and computer science to tackle even the most complex technical challenges.

Heiko has more than 10 years of global coastal engineering experience and is a director of a leading Australian consultancy firm Bluecoast. He offers valuable insights on current and future coastline management issues. Recognising the potential of modern technology and his excitement in applying innovation to day to day problem solving saw him joining the Shoretech team.
